The Husband by Dean Koontz

I mentioned that I was reading Shopaholic & Baby when I was away on vacation and it only took me 20 days to finish it..lol quite impressive, I think the only reason I don't read much when I am in Tripoli is cuz I am yapping most of da time on da phone with my man...lol so before I left I bought this book
It's about a gardener who's wife was kidnapped and they kidnappers asking for 2 million dollars ... and of course he doesn't have that much money....so what would he do for love?..lol good question cuz it opens my eyes on how much my "future husband" is willing to do....jk so, anywayz, I just thought of sharing if someone is having too much time in his/her hand and wanting to read a book.

Love has an unknown definition and has no boundaries, it is what makes our heart skips a beat and makes life worth living ........ scholars have argued about love and what is the sensation of love and yet it still remains a mystery ........ So what would i do for love? I would ask, What would you do to say Alive? as life and love are one, and i value Love as much as i value my life and i would do anything to stay alive ........ which ultimately means ................................

“Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense”

it reminded me of a film with the same story line except in the film the husband paid the kidnappers more money just to keep his wife with them :o)

Salam Damoon.. looks like our poet here Ahmed Akak has left the nerd club lololololol.. my God u flattened me bro.. that was soo serene mashallah...

There's your answer damoon.. an example of what a man would do for love :)

Ahmed just beware of doing anything'.. tsk tsk LOL :)

I personally refise to believe in love, coz love for me is destructive, so I do my best to stay away from it, and if I were the gradener , yala mala fakka !!! :) lol

Salam Damoon,

Mashallah, Ahmed got it right on!

Love is Allah - no beginning and no end - absolutely boundariless. How do we as humans adopt that theory and make it successful in our lives? How many may share the same similar thoughts as Lost-Libyan?

lol@Anglo-Libyan's film where the husband pays the kidnappers to keep the wife. One of the people I work for gives me blank checks to cover expenses I do for them. He chuckles to others because he says, "I trust Ibeebarbie with my blank check because I know she'll spend less than my wife".

oh no I feel the nerd in me wanting to say so much about love hehehehe :).. Lost, I think I know what you mean very much, now that I have come to assume that you're an honest guy!! :)

Naturally, I think about these issues in the same was as ibee said. However, I wanna ask you the question:

In your opinion, why is love destructive?

Id like to know more about what you think before I say any more. :)

Mani and Barbie, to sart with love doesnt work for all people, some lik me for instance should avoid it coz love can be self-destructve to those, I mean it was hell of a year when I was in love and I was doing the distant dating thing, it didnt work out, and all I ended up with is obsession and trust issues. thats why whenever I sense I have some spcial feelings towardssome girl I back off! not o hurt myself of course!
and yeh Cofman who needs more trouble, isnt life complicated enough this way?!
lol

Love is a trick nature plays on us in order to make us reproduce :P

I have read a couple of Dean Koontz books and I always thought of him as a horror writer but The Husband is definitely more of a thriller. The Husband is easily the best Dean Koontz novel I have read so far.. Suspenseful and thematically interesting!

ibeebarbie said...

Salam again DaMoon,

Forgive me for taking this opportunity to say more, but I can't keep quiet---not always in my nature to do so.

Lol@Lebeeya's description of love being a trick to reproduce. Good one!

Lost-Libyan, thank you first and foremost for your honest opinion. Honestly comes from one’s heart, and in doing so as you did, shows you’ve not completely cut off your heart supply. Mabrook! I think we can all relate to the issues of having our heart hurt at one time or another in our life, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship in order to experience this pain. However, so often we allow those experience(s) to set the remaining course of our life, which isn’t always the best solution. Certainly not trying to minimize your painful experience because indeed it is still alive within you. I’m sure keeping your heart closed off to some degree is still working for you, am I right? It seems to hurt less when we do this; however, we are also failing to allow ourselves to feel and receive information that is very important for us. The best description I can give, if you would be so kind to indulge me for a minute, is picturing our heart as the center of our being. I also picture our hearts’ as the dwelling place of Allah---for Allah is the only one that has the right to complete existence there. A place, for those that believe in Shaytan, that Shaytan is refrained from entering. So, the second best place Shaytan can enter and cause problems is our minds (ego based). For how often have you felt something and then immediately went to the rationing mind to talk yourself out of feeling something. The example you gave--if you started having feelings for another you shut that off in order to preserve yourself. I do understand the reasoning of shutting one’s heart off in order to not feel pain, BUT in the same sense we are cutting of the healing source, which is Allah swt. For when we close the door to our heart we are also closing the door to Allah’s healing powers. Who hasn't been guilty of doing this? I know I have been guilty of such. Time can be our best friend in healing and recovering from wounds. The beautiful part is until we are healed from such wounds, Allah will continue to try and guide us to the healing source---and in a gentlemanly fashion---never forcing, never insisting, but rather in a loving fashion all the while never giving up on us.

ibee: i agree with you 100% as you learn something from each person u meet but you should learn to be more careful and not shut yourself as you are missing out on the greatest feeling

lost: i admire ur honesty and knowing the problem is half the solution but never say never and as much as you shut these things out they still find a way to creep into your heart :) i pray for u my brother

Cof: input plz as you seem to be like a commentator (not that there is anything wrong in that)

ibeebarbie said...

Lost-Libyan, if you believe in the law of attraction or the philosphy of what you think about comes about, then my friend be very careful. For the one thing you don't desire may be in fact the exact thing you get. :-)

A_Akak, I agree with you - being open to receive is a good thing. Moreover, if we are closed off we are not in a good position to give either.
